This first set of videos was created for a client, using a combination of Adobe Illustrator and After Effects. They were made to be posted as stories in their social media profiles, celebrating a different array of holidays. To make a video like this, I start by creating the graphics and illustration assets on Illustrator. Every piece or group of pieces that is intended to move on its own needs to be placed on its own individual layer, in order to make the process easy and convenient. Once I'm done creating the assets, I bring them into After Effects and make everything move. Every keyframe is set to match the vision I have of what the animation should look like, and then I add effects like motion blur and speed ramps.
Something that not everyone realizes is that a 15 second story for social media can take a few hours of work, especially when one wants to make sure that the end result is of high quality and impactful for the viewers. The idea is to make everything look interesting and dynamic, which means that the colours, movement, and even the sounds need to be impactful and have a lot of thought put into them.
These were created as part of a personal project. I am very passionate about music and animation, so I thought to combine the two by creating short lyric videos, using kinetic typography to animate the best or my favourite lyrics of each song. As I mentioned above, there is a lot that goes into videos like these. The assets need to match the vibe of the song, the texts needs to match the lyrics, and the entire look of it needs to match what the audio is conveying. Lastly, these were created for a client in order to promote the medals of a series of races. These were some of the first videos of this kind that I created, and are what inspired me to keep learning about this craft.
The one on the right in particular was a hit with the audience of the company I was working for. The shift between the animated and the real medal shocked the viewers, but in reality it was achieved through creating a very simple match between both assets, and having the actual medal available for me to film it spinning and showing every angle of it.
